"Hitherto hath the Lord helped us..." 1 Sam. 7:12
Again and again God had come to Israel's rescue! You can see His mighty hand and out stretched arm. He is there in every crisis.
When they needed deliverance from Egyptian slavery God sent a man called Moses. He trained him in Pharaoh's court and on the backside of the desert. He gave him adequate resources to cope with any circumstance! He summed up his provisions by telling Moses "I am hath sent thee. Moses took those words at face value and lead Israel out of bondage! The Lord helped him!
When the Midianite hoards were running rough shod over the Israelite people God called a man by the name of Gideon. He appears to be your average run of the mill guy. So frustrated by the repeated raids he is hiding behind the wine press thrushing wheat. Suddenly into those drab circumstances an angel makes his presence felt! He speaks to Gideon and tells him of the available resources he has. He says "You've got the power." "The Lord is with thee!" Of course, Gideon, lists all the reasons it couldn't happen. Actually rather lame excuses but the Lord would have none of them he said, "Go in this thy might." Immediately the power of the Holy Ghost takes possession of him. He goes forth to smite the Midianite as one man. The Lord helped him!
From the ranks of Israel's army arose a man called Joshua. He served diligently under the leadership of Moses. Upon Moses' death he enters the rank of Leadership. From the outset it is clear God is with him. It is said, "He wholly followed the Lord." Under the rich anointing of God he leads Israel to Jericho. The city is well fortified but God is adequate! Without the use of a military weapon they march about the walls - Six days they marched one time around the circumference of the city - on day seven they were instructed to march seven times and the priests were to blow the trumpets and the people shout. Strange weapons of warfare to say the least! But when they did God did and the walls fell flat. The Lord helped him!
He has helped us and will continue to do so!
